PostSubject: Finding light [open]    Finding light [open] EmptySat Feb 28, 2015 11:06 pm

You were able to see the light of the Murky Market from miles. The light was like a light house - guiding the surviors and bringing them to this exact location - Evie had hoped that a few of them could make a group of some sort and stick together - survive together. Evie wasn't exactly sure how long it had been since the lights went out, it's been difficult to track time for awhile. Evie entered the market through the back door. It was great being able to see... light.

The Market looked decent. Still plenty of supplies for who knows 10 people running over to one of the shelves, Evie quickly started to grab as much as she could, on stopping in her tracks to hear an item clatter onto the floor.

"Damn it..." Allen muttered from farther down the aisle. He had been looking at the different canned food that sat on the shelf, but it was a little difficult as he was still recovering from the wounds he had received in coming to the market. Some of the cuts were in terrible places like on his elbow and kneed. There was a rather deep gash on his shoulder that, as soon as he reached up to grab a can of chicken noodle soup, had reopened for the third time that day. The can had fallen to the floor with a loud thud as he gripped his shoulder again, keeping pressure on the cut to keep it from bleeding so much. He needed a smoke.

After realizing that he couldn't exactly pick anything up while he tried to stop the bleeding again, the young man began looking around again, just observing what else was on the shelves until his eyes saw the girl that he had never seen before. Blinking at her for a second, he felt a little stupid for talking to himself. "Oh, uh. Hey there," he said, trying to save the awkward situation.

PostSubject: Re: Finding light [open]    Finding light [open] EmptySun Mar 01, 2015 12:30 am

Tara had stayed hidden in the mart since the day she had found it. Despite being extremely overwhelmed by the amount of people all shoved in one mart, she knew her options were slim. She only had a few bullets and was not strong enough should she encounter any kind of threat, and heaven knows she would. Besides, there was a nice collection of food here... Canned food that is.

Tara scanned the collection of cans. Baked beans, creamed corn, spinach. She shoved them into her bag despite her dislike,  but she wasn't content... she could have sworn she had seen a can of soup somewhere. The rave haired girl walked further down the aisle continuing to scan the selection before hearing a loud clatter from the next row over. Curious, the girl cautiously made her way over an aisle to check out what all the fuss was about.

She spotted a girl recklessly shoving cans into her bag and a boy who was awkwardly holding his shoulder while it bled through his shirt. Tara pulled a cigarette out of her pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag. Dang, this whole thing was a mess. "Hey bud, you're bleeding there. You might want to check that out." She joked, walking past him to pick up the can of soup that had clattered to the ground. She slid it into her bag. "Hope you don't mind if I take this."

Evie cast a curious glance at the stranger, her large green eyes blinking noticing all the injuries that were over his body. Quickly clearing her throat Evie stood up, walking over slowly showing no hostile movement. Evie herself had no wounds visible, besides a small scratch that went straight across her nose but it had been completely healed. Now it was just an ugly scar on her face, the brunette had hardly taken any notice of a tall teenage girl that looked around 17 - 19 years old. The girl seemed a bit strange - rude was the word that perfectly seemed to describe her it seemed. "Um" Evie said quietly waving her hand around so she could get her atention. She quickly moved past the girl tuning her out for a few moments. "You don't mind if i treat you?" Evie had asked even though she wasn't going to take no for an answer - the brunette didn't know much about medical care she only knew a few things because of a class in high school. Then again high school was such a long time ago but this dudes injuries weren't that hard to take care of.

"My names Evie Daylight by the way, whats yours?" Evie had asked taking out some first aid suppies, her lip twitched into a frown stumbling across an old picture. The picture was her and some of high-school boyfriend smiling brightly at her birthday party friends gathered all around in the picture. Who had happened to any of them? God knows, she quickly stashed the picture back into her bag, softly sniffing.

The clang of a tin can was heard from where she was, some lengths away from the room where such a gathering was being held. It was almost as though the mart would've been more silent if it lasted just a bit longer than the sounds of metal clashing. There was always such a strong awkwardness between the survivors, but she just wanted everyone to get along mostly.

Hiding behind a shelf real quick to watch, it looked like it was a newcomer, her uncle, and one of the other residents of the mart. Vivi quickly took a few steps forward, waving sheepishly before she said, "Hi there. Nice to meet you Evie - I'm Violet." Holding her hand out, she hoped the other girl would take her friendly gesture kindly, but she didn't think that she would reject it. The newcomer seemed to be a nice person after all, but she was never a good judge for character. "You can call me Vivi if you want!" She hadn't noticed Allen's injuries at all until Evie had pointed it out. Letting out a small gasp, she frantically looked around for her supplies, tripping over one of the said cans that had fallen.

"Oh no..."

Getting up slowly from her spot, Vivi shook her wrist a bit, noticing how it was somewhat bending out in a distorted manner. She honestly tried her best not to wince our show any pain, hiding said hand behind her back as she grabbed the bandages that were closest and any spray. It was lucky she had bothered to bring her lighter too. "Uhm... You need this for the smoke?" was the small amount of words she said as she began to awkwardly rip the bandages with one hand, the lighter held out strangely in her other to her uncle. The knife that she was using wasn't really working and she couldn't exactly tear it. She didn't want to trouble anyone, so she just tried her best to get it to work herself. It wasn't working.

Suddenly surrounded by all of these girls, Allen really had no idea what to think. Looking at Tara, he shrugged before quickly being tended to by both this new girl Evie and Vivi. He didn't really need to be looked at. Most of the wounds were shallow and could have healed on their own, but whatever. He had no idea what to say. "Uh, yeah... I think I got them taken care of," he muttered, rolling his eyes. As soon as he finished speaking, all of these questions were being asked from both of the girls. "I, um, I'm Allen. I guess it's alright. It looks like I don't have a choice..." Turning to Vivi, he shrugged slightly. "Thanks for the lighter."

Tara brought the cigarette to her mouth and raised her eyebrows. The girls around her just blatantly ignored her and Tara wasn't quite sure how to respond. She took a drag of the cigarette, smirking as she exhaled the smoke towards the working girls direction. "Oh yeah, I can see that." She mused, taking a step back and plopping herself down on one of the slightly empty shelves. "Is there anything else that you want? Because I'm sure these little girls would love to cater to your every wish." She propped her legs up on a fallen can of peas. Tara brought the the cigarette up to her mouth once more, not disappointed that she had come to investigate the situation. Now this was entertaining.

Evie hadn't purposely tried to ignore Tara, she just usually tunes out other's when she's focusing on someone's wounds or tends to their care but in all honestly. Tara are usually the kind of people that Evie tries to avoid - not to be very judge mental but Evie used to be very socially awkward back in middle school mostly because beautfiful woman like Tara would often bully her for being very flat in the chest. Not to mention that boy's wouldn't date her back in middle school for the very same reason, "So um, I didn't really catch your name but my name is Evie, so um hi." It had been weird to interact with her, her looks were a little intimidating - not to mention that you couldn't trust people very easily, especially now.

The brunettes gaze turned away from Tara for a few moments, and turned to another survivor; Violet was it? A pleased smile formed on Evie's face also extending her hand to give her hand a firm yet gentle shake. "Hi Vivi, you can call me Eve." Evie said her green eyes twinkling, it was nice to meet such a friendly person maybe this whole darkness thing wouldn't be so bad if there were more people like Vivi around. Once Vivi became frantic about Allen's injuries she became slightly curious "You two know each other?" Evie asked hoping not to sound rude, she
took a few steps back a bit startled that she fell over one of the cans. Oh this Vivi - she was so silly, "[color:50e4=ff8877]You okay there Vivi..?" Eve has asked smiling in amusment

Once Vivi had handed Allen a lighter she was a bit shocked she didn't think that she would encourage something like smoking, but she kept it to her-self it wasn't any of her buisness in the first place. Evie slightly turned to Tara a bit hurt of hat she had said, this girl just doesn't hold back now does she? Her green eyes blinked, Tara smokes as well? Evie couldn't exactly blame the two, there had been alot of recent stress with the world ending and everything. Still though Evie would never hand someone a lighter or some cigrates, thats something that she would never do.

"We're just, trying to be helpful.." Evie had mumbled under her breath her gaze falling onto the ground.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there at all..." Vivi muttered softly as she stood up, her hands dusting her skirt a bit. Looking at the other girl, who she still didn't know the name of, she smiled. She thought about shaking her hand, but she didn't try this time. Her hand was still bending a bit strangely - at least her dominant one. Besides, she still couldn't cut this bandage of properly at all. So the best she could say right now was, "Nice to meet you too, by the way." She kept her eyes on the other girl briefly to just get a good look of what type of person she could be. But, Vivi didn't find her any different from the other survivors. She seemed nice enough.

Oh, Evie had asked her a question. What was it again? "Oh, uhm. I'm fine." was the only answer she could come up with, unsure of what to say after letting the sentence slip out of her mind. She wasn't exactly sure why she gave her uncle the lighter at all - but it seemed fine for now. There was too much stress in this world. Vivi had honestly debated to start smoking herself, but it wasn't like she could.

PostSubject: Re: Finding light [open]    Finding light [open] EmptySun Mar 01, 2015 1:55 pm

When it seemed that both of them were done bandaging up his scratches, Allen was actually a bit surprised on how well they did as he looked them over to make sure they were covering everything. Wow, that was pretty awesome, even if he felt like he really didn't need them in the first place. "Wow, thanks... Evie?" He asked, making sure he said her name right. "And yeah, Vivi is my niece... technically. Even though she's only six years younger." The age gap was basically just a guess. He wasn't quite sure how old she was, but he knew she was around 16 or 17. It was always weird having such a small gap between them, but when his oldest sister was about eighteen years older than he was, It just turned out that way.

Anyway, Allen looked up at the other girl that had walked over. She hadn't introduced herself so he had no idea who she was, but she didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood. "I'm actually pretty good with getting things myself," he with a slightly sarcastic smile, having a little fun with it. Might as well. There wasn't anything else to do around here.

PostSubject: Re: Finding light [open]    Finding light [open] EmptySun Mar 01, 2015 3:27 pm

That was right. Tara was in a bad mood. Everyone she had formally loved and cared about were dead, it was in the middle of an apocalypse, and she was enclosed inside a mart that she couldn't leave if she wanted to live. So excuse her if she wasn't super friendly like her fellow survivors. Tara did know how these girl could be so willing to help out people they barely knew. Weird.

"Oh, my bad..." She grinned, raising a single brow. "It's just that you couldn't even pick up a can without injuring yourself-- hopefully you could understand how I could be 'mistaken'." Tara flicked the ashes from her cigarette carelessly onto the floor and turned her attention over towards the two girls. Somehow she had missed the one girl's, Evie's, question about her name; even if she had heard it, it was not likely she would've acknowledged it anyway. See, Tara wasn't too fond of introductions. The way she saw it, the less relationships she made, the less likely she would feel too sad if one of them died. It was the harsh reality of the apocalypse, but she was here to stay alive... not make attachments.

Evie glanced around getting off the floor from her knees, she had an idea but she wasn't sure if it would, but... Evie grabbed some canned vegetable soup from her bag, that felt sligtly heavy from all the food that she had stashed in it. "Anyone hungry? i'm a decent cook if I do say so myself." Eve said, a bright smile on her face - the brunette hadn't ate for at least a few days - she was to busy running and hiding from night-walkers, and besides she was pretty prepared to make a meal, she was pretty sure that she could find a pot of some sort in this market - she had a camp stove herself because her family had loved camping back in the day that they used to have a billion of these all over their house. "If you don't mind can I use your lighter?" Evie had asked anyone, because there seemed to be alot of people with lighters of their own, maybe she should try to find one herself.

There was actually alot that Evie needed to find, so that they could all enjoy a nice bowl of some hot creamy vegetable soup. Like some bowls, a pot, some spoons and a can-opener but those should all be easy to find in this market, but she would need some help finding everything, like one person can find all this in a bit store like Murkey Mart. Evie glanced over at Vivi and Tara, "Can you guys help me find some supplies?" Evie had asked them hoping that they wouldn't mind much, there wasn't much to do anyways the market was actually quite boring but safe.

It seemed a bit rude to ask, but Vivi couldn't help but notice there was something off about Tara at the moment. She didn't know the girl personally, not at all, yet there seemed to be something wrong. She could sort of feel an uneasiness from her. Perhaps she was wrong or maybe she could tell that the older girl was a bit moody from the current predicament? "Oh, I'm sorry..." she replied quietly to no one in particular. Her eyes were closing slightly as she felt a small shot of pain go through them before shaking her head, hoping no one really noticed. "Is there something wrong?" Vivi asked politely to the bad-tempered girl. She wanted to try and help understand her a bit more, if she could.

With a pleasant smile, Vivi nodded to Evie, completely fine with her using her lighter - which she only carried since Allen might need one at some points - and even helping her gather some supplies. If she could, she'd cook a bit as well, but it was fine not doing so. As long as she could become friends with some of these people, it'd be nice. "What would you like for us to find?"

"Hey, now don't be that way," he responded to Tara with a quick chuckle. "I just happen to be very... mobily challenged right now." Stepping away from the two girls rather close to him to get his own space, he leaned against the shelves on the other side of the aisle, not too far from where Tara was sitting. Good news about her was that, if there was absolutely nothing else, he always knew who to go to for a lighter. Looking back at Evie as she asked about supplies, Allen thought he'd continue with the joke a little bit. "Well, I would help but as you can see, I can't seem to do much for myself." It was all fun and light joking. He was kind of hoping to get a happier reaction out of the girl who seemed so down in the dumps. Sure Allen wasn't exactly an optimist, but for the moment, there really wasn't anything to be down about if you weren't thinking about the past.

Tara watched the people around her hopelessly. These people were being annoyingly optimistic for being stuck in such a dire situation. How exhausting.
"I 'Spose there's nothing else better to do here." Tara said slightly annoyed. She stood up and stretched, looking down at to the two younger girls with disdain. Allen's comment made Tara turn her head to face him once more. "But, didn't you just say you  were 'pretty good at getting things yourself'? You're not trying to get out of the fun of helping are you?" A small smirk made way across her face momentarily, but Tara quickly covered it with another exhale of smoke.

"Well, let's get this over with..." She said with a bored look on her face. "What do you even need help finding?"
By this point, her cigarette had whittled down to nearly nothing. Tara took it out of her mouth and flicked the butt onto the floor, carelessly stamping it out where it had fallen.

Evie honestly had no idea what made this girl such a bitch, maybe it was the fact that the world ended and all her friends died or something - but it's honestly have been making her mood a bit sour. Evie didn't really want to hear sob stories at the moment, maybe Tara will lighten up when she tastes how great her food is.

"Well I need a Can opener, some spoons, a pot of some sort and thats pretty much it, but maybe some salt and the freshest vegetables you can find?" Evie told them looking at Allen quickly shaking her head. "Oh no no, it's fine Vivi and she is gonna help me." Evie told him, "color=#666633]You can just relax and we'll make you some great soup.[/color]" The brunette said with a slight smile, as she started walking off.

That was absolutely confusing. Vivi was baffled as to why Evie didn't seem to like the other girl at all. Sure, she wasn't being nice, but it seemed so judgmental if she was going to conclude what someone was like after talking to them for a few minutes. It was terrible honestly. The stranger seemed to be kind in her own way - she kept Allen entertained and satisfied for the time-being at least. "Can't we just be friends?" she muttered quietly to herself, contemplating as to whether she just made a stupid move or not. She was known to do that often. Sighing, Vivi just went searching the shelves for what Evie told her to get. At least, some of it. Gesturing to Tara, she was hoping at least that perhaps she could get to know her better and have a friendly conversation that didn't involve one of them getting hurt. If anything, the girl was hoping to understand her situation and help her get through it.

OOC;; Sorry, lame post.

Allen shrugged at Violet's question. "That's good with me. I don't mind making some friends." It was a very casual sentence, not much in it other than some tiredness mixed with carelessness. Continuing to look at the patched up scratches, he realized that it actually did help some. The pain wasn't as significant, although some of them were starting to itch under the bandages. Letting out a deep sigh, he looked at Violet, then to Tara, and back to Evie. "Alright make that soup then. I'm starving. But I will help out. Do you know where the veggies are?"
